Championship Inspiration

photo of Randy Pausch"Setbacks. The brick walls are there for a reason. They're not there to keep us out. The brick walls are there to give us a chance to show how bad we want something. The brick walls are there to stop the people who don't want it bad enough. They're there to stop other people."

Cal State Fullerton: Everyday Champions

Intercollegiate athletics is about much more than wins and losses. The physical and mental training augment the classroom experience and teach life's lessons. Intercollegiate athletic scholarships provide an opportunity for students who otherwise might not seek higher education. And numerous studies have shown that student-athletes outperform "average" students and are more likely to become community, educational and business leaders. This is the eighth in a series of Titan athletics success stories.

(VIDEO) Everyday Champions: Alex Wolnisty

photo of Alex WolnistyFilmed last June, former Titan student-athlete Alex Wolnisty talks about how playing volleyball while going to school was the best decision she ever made. The six-foot-five former middle blocker was not athletic growing up but used her height to her advantage and put herself in a position to be able to learn, not only volleyball concepts, but life lessons over four years as a student-athlete. Alex is now pursuing a masters degree while working in the Titans' athletic ticket office. Click here to hear her story.

Five Former Titans Return as Coaches

Eleven-year veteran Richard Gishi, (women's gymnastics) and first-time coaches Kirk Saarloos (baseball), P. J. Pilittere (baseball), Neil Walton (women's golf), and Carolyn Ellis (cross country/track and field) return to pass on their knowledge. Click here for the complete story.
