Oct. 28, 2010

A trio of Cal State Fullerton wrestlers are ranked in the national Top 20 in their respective weight classes by InterMat Wrestling in its annual pre-season poll.

Seniors Adin Duenas (Gilroy HS, Gilroy, CA), Andre Gonzalez (Silver Creek HS, San Jose, CA) and Kurt Klimek (Carlsbad HS, Oceanside, CA) were singled out.  All three were NCAA qualifiers last year.

Duenas, the defending Pac-10 champion, is ranked No. 10 at 141 pounds.  He is listed just below No. 9 Boris Novachkov of Cal Poly, who won the Pac-10 133-pound title last year.

Gonzalez is ranked No. 17 in a Pac-10 influenced field at 125 pounds that includes No. 3 Anthony Robles of Arizona State, No. 13 Jason Lara of Oregon State, No. 15 Ryan Mango of Stanford and No. 18 Frank Lomas of Cal State Bakersfield.

Klimek is also No. 17 but among the heavyweights.  Other strong Pac-10 contenders are No. 13 Clayton Jack of Oregon State and No. 20 Atticus Disney of Cal Poly.

Fullerton opens its dual meet season on Nov. 13 at Cal Poly.
