Arizona State Edges Fullerton, 25-19

Tempe, Arizona — Tejovan Edwards pinned Clayton Schuelke at 165 pounds Saturday night to lead Arizona State to a 25-19 Pac-10 wrestling win over visiting Cal State Fullerton.

The Sun Devils won six matches and got bonus points in four of them to improve to 3-1 overall and 1-0 in the Pac-10.  Marcus Orona (133), Nick Jordan (149) and Kurt Klimek (285) picked up wins for the Titans (0-3, 0-3), who also got a forfeit win at 197 from Kyle Bergstedt.

The match started at 157 pounds and the Sun Devils got their first of four consecutive wins when Bubba Jenkins scored a 15-2 major decision over David Rios.  Fullerton got on the board at 197 with the forfeit and Klimek then beat Michael Hawkins, 2-1.  When Orona pinned David Prado at 4:19 at 133, the Titans pulled within 23-15 but the Sun Devils clinched the match when Kalin Goodsite beat Peter Hoang (6-1), who is filling in for defending Pac-10 champion Adin Duenas,  Jordan won a 16-3 major decision over Taihei Fukumoto to conclude the match.

Fullerton wrestles next at the Cliff Keen Invitational next weekend in Las Vegas.
