Nov. 23, 2010

TEMPE -  Cal State Fullerton’s wrestling team seeks its first dual match victory of the season but will need a major upset to get it Saturday night as the Titans travel to Tempe to tackle the No. 20-ranked (NWCA) Arizona State Sun Devils in a Pac-10 match.

The match will be available on the NWCA’s LIVE scorebook at:

and will be video streamed by Fox Sports Arizona via a linked banner on its website:

There is no charge for either feed.

Fullerton is 0-2 overall and 0-2 in the Pac-10 after losses at Cal Poly and at home to Stanford.  Several wrestlers are not available due to injuries and ineligibility including defending Pac-10 141-pound champion Adin Duenas.

The Titans’ top performer to date has been 184-pounder Todd Noel, who is 6-0 including a pair of Pac-10 victories.  He also won his bracket at Saturday’s Fullerton Open.

An interesting match could develop at 125 pounds.  The Sun Devils’ feature No. 3 nationally ranked Anthony Robles while the Titans counter with three-year starter Andre Gonzalez, who is coming off a 4-2 win over Tyler Iwamura of Cal State Bakersfield in a featured bout at Sunday’s NWCA All-Star Classic in Fresno.  Robles won the All-Star match over No. 4-ranked Zach Sanders of Minnesota with a 20-2 technical fall.  Fullerton hosts Minnesota on Dec. 11.
